Double cost for withdrawing money from other bank ATMs

Consumers who withdraw money from ATMs operated by other banks will be subject to additional fees. The new regulations will take effect on February 20 and will increase the maximum fee for withdrawing cash from an ATM of another bank using a card of one bank from Tk 15 to Tk 30 per transaction.

For the first five transactions, the Tk 15 fee will still apply (with a maximum withdrawal of Tk 20,000 per transaction). However, each withdrawal after five will incur a fee of Tk 30. All banks in the nation have received a directive in this regard that was issued by Bangladesh Bank’s Payment Systems Department on Thursday, February 6.

According to the new rules:

✅ ATM withdrawal charges: – Tk 15 for the first 5 transactions to withdraw money from ATMs of other banks, Tk 30 thereafter.

– A maximum of Tk 20,000 can be withdrawn each time.

✅ Checking account balance will also increase the cost: – If you want to check the balance or view a summary statement at an ATM booth of another bank, you will have to pay a Tk 5 charge including VAT.

✅ In case of Fund Transfer:

– A service charge of 10 taka will be charged to transfer money to another bank.

✅ National Payment Switch Bangladesh (NPSB) transaction limit: – A maximum of 2 lakh taka can be withdrawn in cash per month.

✅ Cash withdrawal using POS (Point of Sale): – A maximum service charge of 20 taka will be charged per transaction.

✅ Internet Banking Fund Transfer: – The bank will deduct a service charge of 10 taka for transferring funds to another bank through internet banking.

✅ Online income tax payment and government services: – A charge of 20 taka for transactions below 25,000 taka, – A charge of 50 taka for transactions above 25,000 taka.

✅ Mobile Financial Service (MFS) or PSP Wallet transactions: – A charge of 1% per transaction or a maximum charge of 30 taka will be charged.

– There will be no chargeback facility for such transactions.

Customers will pay more to use ATMs operated by other banks as a result of Bangladesh Bank’s recent directive. This will result in extra expenses, particularly for people who frequently visit other banks’ booths.
