Bangladesh received $2.25 billion in remittances as of March 19

In the first 19 days of March, expatriates sent remittances totaling 2.25 billion dollars. With the exchange rate at 122 taka per dollar, this equates to approximately 27,474.40 billion taka. This information was disclosed in the latest report from Bangladesh Bank on Thursday, March 20.

The data indicates that the remittances received during this period are 78 percent higher compared to the same timeframe last year, when the total was 1.26 billion dollars.

The central bank also reported that on March 19 alone, expatriates sent 132 million dollars in remittances, contributing to the overall 2.25 billion dollars.

In February, remittances amounted to 2.52 billion dollars, which translates to 31.94 billion taka in Bangladeshi currency.

For context, last year’s remittance figures were as follows: January 2113.15 million, February 2164.56 million, March 1997.07 million, April 2044.23 million, May 2254.93 million, June 2538.6 million, July 1913.77 million, August 2224.15 million, September 2404.79 million, October 2395.8 million, November 2199.51 million, and December 2638.78 million.
