The International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) has assured its full cooperation in advancing Bangladesh’s civil aviation sector, particularly in strengthening aviation safety and security and aligning the sector with international standards.

The assurance was conveyed in a recent letter to Civil Aviation and Tourism Minister M. Rashiduzzaman Millat, congratulating him on assuming office as a full minister.

ICAO Council President Toshiyuki Onuma and Secretary General Juan Carlos Salazar extended their greetings to the minister and wished him success in carrying out his new responsibilities.

In the letter, the two senior officials said ICAO would continue to work closely with Bangladesh to promote the further development of international civil aviation while supporting efforts to ensure safety and security in the sector.

ICAO plays a key role in establishing international aviation standards and recommended practices and works with its member states to facilitate the safe, secure and orderly growth of civil aviation.

The organisation’s continued cooperation is expected to support Bangladesh’s efforts to modernise airport infrastructure, enhance aviation safety and security, and bring the country’s civil aviation sector further in line with international standards.
