The government has increased the prices of four major types of fuel by Tk 20 per litre in Bangladesh.

Under the new prices, diesel will cost Tk 135 per litre, kerosene Tk 155, octane Tk 165 and petrol Tk 160.

The new prices were announced in a gazette notification issued on Sunday (September 20) and signed by Md Enamul Haque, senior assistant secretary of the Energy and Mineral Resources Division.

Previously, diesel was sold at Tk 115 per litre, kerosene at Tk 135, octane at Tk 145 and petrol at Tk 140.

The latest major fuel price adjustment was made in April, when diesel prices were increased by Tk 15 per litre, while octane, petrol and kerosene prices were raised by Tk 20, Tk 19 and Tk 18, respectively.

Since 2024, retail fuel prices in Bangladesh have been reviewed under an automatic pricing mechanism. The prices are adjusted based on factors including international oil prices, import costs, taxes and duties, exchange rates and other related expenses.
