Bangladesh’s electrical products manufacturer MEP Group plans to invest Tk 200 crore to establish a manufacturing facility at the National Special Economic Zone in Mirsarai, Chattogram.

The company will develop the factory on 10 acres of land, where it plans to manufacture a range of electrical products, including lighting equipment, switches and sockets, circuit breakers, fans and cables.

MEP Group announced the expansion plan at an event held at the Radisson Blu Dhaka Water Garden in the capital on Sunday. The company shared the plan with its distributors, retailers and business partners.

The event was attended as the chief guest by FBCCI Administrator Md Fazlul Hoque. MEP Group said the new investment is aimed at expanding its manufacturing capacity and supporting its long-term business growth.

Speaking at the event, Fazlul Hoque said MEP is one of Bangladesh’s longstanding electrical product manufacturers. He said the new investment in the special economic zone would contribute to producing quality products while supporting industrialisation and employment generation.

MEP Group Managing Director Jahangir Alam Chakladar said the new factory was not merely a project to increase production capacity but part of the company’s long-term plan for technology, innovation and market expansion.

“We want to take MEP to a leading position in this sector together with our business partners and customers,” he said.

MEP Group Director Shakil Alam Chakladar also spoke at the programme.

The event also featured an award ceremony for winners of MEP’s special offer. The company said 80 winners received 78 motorcycles and two refrigerators.

MEP Group added that its special offer for MEP accessories will run from October to December this year.
