Bangladesh to close land ports temporarily for national election

B Mirror report: The government of Bangladesh has announced the temporary closure of immigration check posts at all land ports across the country in connection with the 13th national parliament election and referendum, scheduled for February 12.

According to a notification from the Ministry of Home Affairs, all land ports will remain closed from 6:00 am on February 12 until 6:00 am on February 13. The measure aims to ensure the elections are conducted in a smooth, peaceful, and orderly manner.

The Home Ministry has directed the relevant authorities to take all necessary steps to enforce the closure during this period. Immigration and border management agencies have been instructed to remain vigilant and ensure full compliance with the order.

Travelers and stakeholders have been advised to plan ahead and avoid cross-border travel via land ports while the temporary closure is in effect.
