Kushtia District Correspondent: A joint security drill was conducted in Kushtia to maintain law and order during the elections.
On Tuesday (10 February) morning, the drill began from the courtyard of the Deputy Commissioner’s office and proceeded through various areas of the district.
Earlier, Kushtia’s Returning Officer and Deputy Commissioner, Md. Iqbal Hossain, told reporters, “The joint forces are working to ensure a free, fair, and uninterrupted voting process so that voters can cast their ballots safely. Appropriate measures will be taken if any unstable situation arises anywhere.”
The Deputy Commissioner added that the administration has completed all preparations to keep the overall situation in Kushtia under control. He instructed the concerned officials and security forces to deploy sufficient police and law enforcement personnel at all polling centers and surrounding areas on voting day. As part of this preparation, alongside the district police, RAB and Ansar-VD (Volunteer Force) personnel will also be deployed in the electoral areas. The Deputy Commissioner called on everyone to assist in ensuring peaceful and fair elections.
Kushtia Superintendent of Police Jasim Uddin stated that a strategic plan has been adopted to maintain peace and security in electoral areas and at public gatherings. The law enforcement agencies will remain vigilant to ensure that political leaders, party workers, and voters can participate in a safe environment. Special monitoring will be in place in election areas, and the administration will remain highly alert to prevent terrorism, disorder, and provocation.
In the district’s four parliamentary constituencies, there are 1,747,762 registered voters. Voting will take place at a total of 599 polling centers, of which 125 are considered high-risk centers.
Officials from various levels involved in the elections, including Superintendent of Police Jasim Uddin, participated in the drill.
Later in the day, a full-day joint security exercise was held, coordinated among the army, BGB (Border Guard Bangladesh), police, and RAB.
