Janata exchange italy opens agent points for remittance

Janata Exchange Company (JEC) SRL Italy, a subsidiary of Janata Bank, has set up agent points across Italy to make it easier for expatriates to send remittances to Bangladesh. The initiative was inaugurated on Monday, 2 February, through an online platform.

The event was attended by Bangladesh Ambassador to Italy A. T. M. Rokebul Haque as the guest of honor. Nazma Mobarak, Secretary of the Financial Institutions Division, addressed the event as the chief guest. Special guests included Janata Bank Chairman Mohammad Fazlur Rahman, CSP, Economic Counselor of the Bangladesh Embassy in Italy and JEC Director Mohammad Al Amin, and JEC Director Giovanni Embargemo.

The program was presided over by Janata Bank Managing Director and JEC Chairman Mohammad Mojibur Rahman, with speeches by DMD Kazi Abdur Rahman and the current JEC Managing Director Mohammad Shahadat Hossain. The event was conducted by GM of Overseas Banking, Mohammad Anis.

During the program, it was announced that JEC SRL has received approval from the Central Bank of Italy to gradually establish 102 agent points across Italy. The agent points, located near residential areas, will provide a safer and more secure environment for expatriates to send money to Bangladesh through legal channels.
