DSE Market Capitalization Rises by BDT 12.6 billion

B Mirror Report : The nation’s stock market concluded this week with drops in all of the main Index. However, the weekly update report states that the Dhaka Stock Exchange’s (DSE) market capitalization grew by BDT 12.6 billion.

Over the week, DSE’s market capitalization rose by 0.18 percent, or BDT 12.6 billion. On the last trading day of the week, the DSE market capitalization stood at BDT 6,84,440 crore, compared to BDT 6,83,180 crore at the end of the previous week.

All Index at the DSE declined during the week. The benchmark DSEX fell by 39.56 points, or 0.79 percent. Meanwhile, the DSE-30 index dropped 2.22 points, or 0.12 percent, and the DSES index declined by 14.87 points, or 1.47 percent.

Trading volume also decreased at the DSE. Total transactions for the week amounted to BDT 1,900.60 crore, down from BDT 2,372.72 crore the previous week, a decline of BDT 472.12 crore. The average daily turnover fell by BDT 94.42 crore, or 19.9 percent, with the week’s average daily trading at BDT 380.12 crore, compared to BDT 474.54 crore the prior week.

During the week, shares and mutual fund units of 386 companies were traded on the DSE. Among them, prices of 93 companies rose, 268 fell, and 25 remained unchanged.

Meanwhile, on the Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE), the benchmark Index CASPI and CSCX fell by 0.51 percent and 0.35 percent, closing at 13,921.76 points and 8,622.09 points, respectively. The CSE-50 index declined 0.44 percent, standing at 1,077.06 points, while the CSE-30 index dropped 0.08 percent and the CSI index fell 0.95 percent to 12,477.96 points and 852.31 points, respectively.

Total turnover at the CSE for the week was BDT 32.81 crore, down from BDT 72.80 crore the previous week, a decrease of BDT 39.99 crore. Shares and mutual fund units of 274 companies were traded, with 85 seeing price increases, 169 decreases, and 20 remaining unchanged.
