Grameenphone–Gachit Alliance to Boost Sustainable E-Mobility

Grameenphone (GP), a publicly listed telecom company in Bangladesh, has signed a strategic partnership agreement with Gachit Bangladesh, the local partner of Japan’s Gachit Incorporated, to accelerate smart and sustainable electric mobility in the country. Gachit is a Japanese company specializing in the design, manufacturing, and marketing of electric personal mobility devices.

Under the collaboration, GP’s Alo Connect Machine-to-Machine (M2M) platform—an Internet of Things (IoT) and digital connectivity solution—will be integrated with Gachit’s electric mobility technology. As part of the partnership, the two companies will establish smart battery swapping stations and introduce IoT-enabled smart meters for electric motorcycles and scooters, supporting connected and data-driven transportation.

In a press release, Grameenphone stated that the initiative aims to improve efficiency, accessibility, and convenience for users while promoting sustainable and connected transportation across Bangladesh. The partnership was formally sealed through the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between Grameenphone’s Chief Business Officer, Asif Naimur Rashid, and Gachit’s Chief Executive Officer (CEO), Teizo Narumi.

Asif Naimur Rashid said, “This partnership is a forward-looking step in integrating digital innovation with sustainable mobility. By leveraging our advanced ICT and IoT capabilities, we aim to build an ecosystem where technology drives progress and empowers people, businesses, and industries toward a safer and smarter future.”

Gachit CEO Teizo Narumi added, “This collaboration will bring next-generation mobility solutions that are both environmentally friendly and digitally intelligent. It will make electric mobility more accessible and effective for everyone.”

According to the press release, this joint initiative on connected e-mobility solutions is expected to support the widespread adoption of electric vehicles in Bangladesh in the coming years.
