BARI Launches 2025 Central Research Workshop

The Central Research Review & Planning Workshop 2025 of Bangladesh Agricultural Research Institute (BARI) has been inaugurated (November 05, 2025) at the Kazi Badrudduza Auditorium of the institute.

This workshop has been organized for the purpose of evaluating all the research programs undertaken in the last year 2024-2025 and formulating the research program for the next year 2025-2026 in the light of these experiences. Bangladesh Agricultural Research Institute (BARI) is currently conducting research activities on 212 crops. A total of 1349 technologies including 677 high yielding, disease resistant and various adverse environment resistant varieties and 672 other production technologies have been developed by BARI. As a result of these technological innovations, the production of oilseeds, pulses, potatoes, wheat, vegetables, spices and fruits has increased tremendously in the country. The main objective of this workshop is to verify the suitability of these technologies and to take up the program of technology innovation according to the current demand of the country. The technical sessions of the workshop will be held regularly from 11-13 November 2025 onwards.

Honorable Agriculture Adviser & Home Affairs Advisor, Government of the People’s Republic of Bangladesh Lieutenant General (Retd.) Md. Jahangir Alam Chowdhury was the chief guest while Director General of BARI Dr. Md. Abdullah Yousuf Akhond presided over the inaugural ceremony. At this time, The Honorable Agriculture Secretary Government of the People’s Republic of Bangladesh Dr. Mohammad Emdad Ullah Mian was present as special guests.

In the speech of the chief guest, the honorable advisor said, “We will design our research program on basis our farmers interest. Country and people will be benefited from here”

At the inauguration ceremony, the Director General of BARI Dr. Md. Abdullah Yousuf Akhond gave a keynote paper presentation on BARI’s research activities and achievement. At this time, BARI’s Director (Research) Dr. Munshi Rashid Ahmad; Director (Support & Services) Dr. Ashraf Uddin Ahmed; Director (Training and communication) Dr. Md. Ataur Rahman; Director (Horticulture Research Center) Dr. Faruque Ahmed; Director (Pulse Research Centre) Dr. Md. Mazharul Anwar; Director Md. Monjurul kadir; Director Dr. Md. Mokhlesur Rahman and Director Dr. Md. Altaf Hossain were also present on the occasion. Ministry of Agriculture, Department of Agricultural Extension, Bangladesh Rice Research Institute, Bangladesh Agricultural Development Corporation, Senior officer of various institutions, Agricultural experts, scientists, representatives from government, non-government and international organizations, BARI scientists and officers were, among others, participated in the inaugural session.
