Inclusion of Private Institutions in primary Education Exams

Azad, Lakshmipur Correspondent: The District Private School Association (WAMI) has initiated a human chain event in Lakshmipur, advocating for the inclusion of private institutions in the primary scholarship examination. This event took place for one hour in front of the District Commissioner’s office on Monday, July 28.

The speakers highlighted that on July 17, the current government released a notification indicating that students from any private institution would be barred from participating in the primary scholarship exam. Nevertheless, there are approximately 50,000 private kindergartens and other educational institutions nationwide.

Around 10 million students are enrolled in these institutions. This government decision will have a significant impact on students attending private schools. Additionally, there are about 450 private educational institutions in the Lakshmipur district, with 135 located in Sadar Upazila alone. We vehemently condemn and protest this government decision. We demand the immediate inclusion of private institutions in the primary scholarship examination. Should our demands not be met, we will escalate our actions. Subsequently, a memorandum was presented to the Education Advisor through the District Commissioner, reiterating this demand.

During the event, WAMI District Branch General Secretary Habibur Rahman, Vice President Rezaul Karim Sumon, Sadar Upazila Branch President Md. Hanif, General Secretary Riazul Islam, General Secretary Mizanur Rahman, Ramganj Branch President Emran Hossain, and Raipur Branch General Secretary Khaled Mahmud addressed the crowd. Teachers, students, and guardians from various private educational institutions in the district participated in the human chain.
