Hossain Khaled elected chairman of City Bank

The Board of Directors of City Bank PLC has appointed Hossain Khaled as the new Chairman of the Bank during its meeting held today (27 July).

A sponsor director of City Bank, Hossain Khaled has held the position of vice chairman for seven years, according to a press release.

He also plays a role as a member of the Board’s Executive Committee and Risk Management Committee. In addition to these responsibilities, he chairs both City Brokerage Limited and City Hong Kong Limited, the bank’s two subsidiaries.

Khaled’s accomplishments include serving four terms as President of the Dhaka Chamber of Commerce and Industry (DCCI). He has also held the position of Co-Chairman of the Bangladesh Better Business Forum and was the founding President of the Bangladesh Chapter of the Entrepreneurs’ Organization (EO).

His educational qualifications further enhance his professional profile. He earned his BBA in Accounting from the University of Toledo in Ohio, USA, and holds an MBA in International Banking from Texas A&M University.

As the son of the late Anwar Hossain, who founded the Anwar Group of Industries and was a key founding sponsor and director of City Bank, Hossain Khaled continues a proud family legacy. His father served four terms as Chairman. Currently, Khaled is the Group Managing Director of Anwar Group of Industries.
