Nazrul  Rajbari  Correspondent: The police of Goalanda Ghat Police Station in Rajbari have arrested a millionaire top drug dealer husband and wife along with 160 grams of heroin, a microbus used for drug sales and a warrant. The arrested are Jahangir Howlader (48), son of the deceased Abdul Gani Howlader of Ward No. 4 and current millionaire top drug dealer of North Daulatdia Poravita, near Mallapatti Bridge in Ujanchar Union of Goalanda Upazila, and Jahangir Howlader’s wife Mukta Begum (40).
On Tuesday night at 1:45 am, the police conducted a raid in front of Shamsher’s shop at the Daulatdia Truck Terminal of Goalanda Ghat Police Station.
Locals said that the top drug dealer in Daulatdia Poravita, Roji’s own brother, is millionaire drug dealer Jahangir Howlader. He has built a microbus, a luxurious house in Goalanda Artapati and a huge market in Barisal with the money from the drug business. Despite being the owner of crores of taka in the drug business, he was running the business under the guise of good humanity. Drugs are sold openly in Daulatdia Poravita. There are about fifty drug dealers here, including wholesalers and retailers. Although he was arrested in the administration’s raid, he got involved in the business again.
Goalanda Ghat Police Station Officer-in-Charge Mohammad Rakibul Islam said that SI Md. Saidul Islam of the police station along with the team arrested drug dealer Mukta Begum and her husband Jahangir Howlader from the Daulatdia Truck Terminal area along with heroin. A case was filed at Goalanda Ghat Police Station on Wednesday under the Narcotics Control Act.
He said that there are two Narcotics Control Act cases against drug dealer Mukta Begum at Goalanda Ghat Police Station and seven Narcotics Control Act cases against her husband Jahangir Howlader at Goalanda Ghat Police Station and Rajbari Sadar Police Station. Jahangir has a one-year arrest warrant in a case at Goalanda Police Station.
