Offices banks stock market reopens June 1

B Mirror Report:  Normal operations at government and private offices, banks, insurance companies, and the stock market will resume across Bangladesh on Monday, June 1, following the end of a seven-day Eid-ul-Azha holiday.

The holiday, which began on May 25, will conclude on May 31, paving the way for the country’s administrative and economic activities to return to regular schedules.

Eid-ul-Azha was celebrated on May 28. Although the government initially declared a six-day holiday, an additional day was later granted through an executive order to facilitate Eid travel and public convenience, extending the break to seven consecutive days.

During the holiday period, operations at banks, insurance firms, and most private-sector organizations remained suspended. However, essential services, including electricity, water, gas, fire service, hospitals, ports, and telecommunications, continued uninterrupted.

With the holiday ending, banks and stock market trading will resume according to their regular schedules from June 1. Government and private offices are also set to reopen, bringing employees back to work after the extended festive break.

Officials expect the resumption of normal operations to restore momentum to the country’s administrative and economic activities, with public and private sector institutions returning to full-scale functioning.
