The Chittagong Port Authority has restarted the operations of its export-focused container scanner, a self-funded initiative aimed at enhancing the security of international trade in compliance with the ISPS Code.
The resumption was officially launched by CPA Chairman Rear Admiral SM Moniruzzaman on Sunday, with key figures from the Chittagong Customs House and CPA in attendance.
This move is expected to bolster transparency and security in international trade while upholding the port’s esteemed reputation. The container scanner, installed in February 2024 and provided by Five R Associates Limited, had its operations halted due to a contract expiration, prompting the CPA to temporarily re-engage the previous contractor for necessary maintenance.
