Beximco Industrial Park Industrial Lay-off Announcement

At a meeting of the Advisory Council Committee on the Review of Labor and Business Situation of Industrial Establishments in Beximco Industrial Park, Beximco Industrial Park Managing Director Osman Quader Chowdhury said that it is no longer possible to operate the Beximco Industrial Park due to the lack of orders in the companies and the company’s sufficient defaults in the bank.

He said that all officers, employees and workers working in 16 industries of Beximco Textile Limited and Garments will be laid off from December 16 as per the relevant section of the Bangladesh Labor Act as there is currently no work in the factory. During the layoff, the workers will be paid wages as per the law. There is no need for the workers to physically attend the factory during the layoff.

Abdul Malek, Public Relations Officer of the Ministry of Labor and Employment, gave this information on Sunday (December 15) night.

He said that the meeting held at the meeting room of the Ministry of Labor and Employment was attended by the Labor and Employment Advisor, Home Affairs Advisor, Commerce Advisor, Finance Advisor, Industry Advisor, Attorney General, heads of various law enforcement agencies, Labor and Employment Secretary, Commerce Secretary, Finance Secretary, Receiver of Beximco Limited, representatives of Bangladesh Bank and Janata Bank, and senior officials of the ministry.
