Patuakhali Correspondent: Like the rest of the country, the Typhoid Vaccination Campaign has also begun in Patuakhali Sadar Upazila. Under this initiative, nearly 500,000 children and adolescents in the upazila will receive the typhoid vaccine free of charge.

On Sunday morning, Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Iffat Ara Jaman Urmi inaugurated the campaign by administering the vaccine to her own child at the Dibuyapur Government Primary School vaccination center.

The inaugural event was attended by Sadar Upazila Health Officer Dr. Nahid Al Rakib, General Secretary of Patuakhali Press Club Abdus Salam Arif, Head Teacher of the school Mizanur Rahman, Executive Director of Patuakhali Youth Forum Zahidul Islam, along with teachers and guardians.

Following the inauguration, UNO Iffat Ara Jaman Urmi said, “Typhoid is a preventable disease. Through this vaccine, our children and teenagers will be protected from its risks. To make this noble government initiative successful, everyone must play a conscious and cooperative role.”

She added, “By vaccinating my own child, I wanted to send a message to all parents that this vaccine is both safe and essential. We all must encourage vaccination.”

Speakers at the event emphasized that vaccination is a highly effective and safe method to protect against typhoid. They urged all parents to ensure their children receive the vaccine within the scheduled timeframe.

Prior to the event, awareness leaflets were distributed among guardians and students in the school premises.
