Businessmen want uninterrupted electricity and gas and security.

Top businessmen of the country have demanded uninterrupted supply of gas and electricity to industries. They said, if gas, electricity, infrastructure, port, custom services are not available properly, it will not be possible to increase business. They have also demanded to ensure the safety of the factory in the ongoing situation.

On Monday (September 2), businessmen said these things at a discussion meeting titled ‘Crisis of the garment sector in the current situation and ways to overcome’ in a hotel in the capital. Bangladesh Garment Buying House Association (BGBA) organized the meeting. BGBA President Mohammad Mofazzal Hossain Pavel presided over the leading businessmen of the country.

Businessmen said that despite being a promising sector, the production of the industry is being disrupted due to not ensuring uninterrupted energy supply to the industry. As a result, the businessmen of this sector are facing various problems. Production costs are rising due to lack of uninterrupted energy. Moreover, the workers are on strike in the factories with various demands. Outsiders are coming and vandalizing the factory. In this situation, the cooperation of industrial police is not available. Businessmen have sought the help of the interim government to ensure a business-friendly environment.

BPAGMEA President Mohammad Shahriar said that the biggest problem is the internal problem. RMG sector faces the first challenge in any instability of the country. In the unstable situation surrounding the movement, the order will go to neighboring countries, the buyer can go if he wants. But before going to other countries they will think whether they can pick up the orders in Bangladesh. The new government should give them time. We want uninterrupted, gas and utility facilities.

Chairman of BGMEA Standing Committee Kofil Uddin said that the business has already suffered a lot due to the agitation. There is no alternative to solve the problem of gas, electricity to turn around. Besides, we feel a great lack of security. Outsiders are coming up with different demands. Already 800 factories are closed. Cooperation of industrial police is not available. We want factory security.

BTMEA president Shaukat Russell said, we are hopeful that Dr. Our business will grow because of Yunus Sir’s reputation. At the moment factories need safety of people and goods. Took LC, no discount. Supply of electricity, gas must be ensured.

BGBA president Mohammad Mofazzal Hossain Pavel said, if you want to dream of 100 billion, you have to create an action plan. Foreigners are not able to send teams due to lack of security in Bangladesh. Security is needed. Otherwise the business will decrease. Confidence should be restored in the banking sector. Business environment should be ensured for business friendly country.

In the speech of the chief guest, former president of FBCCI Abdul Awal Mintu said that the problem has never decreased. It has increased day by day. If the politics is not good, the economy will not be good. Millions of crores of rupees have been invested in the power sector in excess of demand. This is done to favor wealth acquirers over wealth creators. Where is the guarantee that the political reforms will be sustainable? It is very good if everyone can fix social values, financial chaos. Giving oil to politicians and ministers is not the job of businessmen. Business community should maintain their own respect.
