Md. Nazrul Rajbari Correspondent: Two motorcycle-riding jewellers, Qurban Sheikh (55) and Ashok Kumar Roy (65), died after being hit by a truck from behind while returning home after the Halkhata ceremony in Pangsha, Rajbari. Qurban Sheikh is the son of Habu Sheikh of Janipur village of Khoksha police station in Kushtia district and Ashok Kumar Roy is the son of Foni Bhushan Roy of Kamalapur village of Khoksha upazila. Qurban Sheikh Khoksha was the owner of Matri Jewellers in Kamalapur Puratan Bazar and Ashok Roy was the owner of Krishna Jewellers in Moragachha. On the other hand, Lokman Hossain (48), son of the late Babar Ali Pramanik of Habaspur Mathpara village of Pangsha upazila, died after being hit by a motorcycle while crossing the road.
On Wednesday, around 4:45 pm and 2:00 pm, a speeding truck hit a motorcycle from behind and crushed it in the Naopara Paglar More area of Maashpara Union in Pangsha Upazila on the Rajbari-Kushtia Regional Highway. Three of them died on the spot.
According to family and local sources, both the deceased had come to Pangsha Sikder Jewelers to do their halakhat. While returning home on their motorcycles after the halakhat, a sand-laden drum truck hit their motorcycle from behind. They died on the spot.
Later, they were taken to the Pangsha Upazila Health Complex, where the on-duty doctor Dr. Tansu Soma declared them dead.
Sub-Inspector (SI) of Pangsha Highway Police Station Sajjad said that a speeding truck hit a motorcycle from behind in the Paglar More area of Pangsha Upazila on the Rajbari-Kushtia Highway. Both of them died on the spot. Two jewellers were killed in a road accident in Pansha while returning from their work. The bodies were recovered from the accident site with the help of Pansha Fire Service. Even if no complaint is received from the family, legal action will be taken by the police.
Pangsha Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Mohammad Salah Uddin said that while crossing the road on the east side of Habaspur Bazar in Habaspur Union, a motorcycle hit Lokman Hossain and fled, leaving him injured. When the family members quickly took him to the Pangsha Upazila Health Complex, the doctor on duty declared him dead.
