The central bank estimates that remittances totaled roughly $2.64 billion for the entire month of December 2024, the last month of December. This represents a $648 million increase over the same time last year. $199.1 million was received in December of last year. Based on available data, remittances from Bangladeshis residing abroad totaled $13.777 billion during the first half of the current fiscal year 2024–25 (July–December). This represents a $2.977 billion increase over the same time frame in the preceding fiscal year. In the first half of the previous fiscal year, which ran from July to December, remittances totaled $1.8 billion.
