The government will reduce the price of fuel soon.

The interim government has decided to reduce the price of fuel oil in the international market. From September, consumers will be able to buy diesel, kerosene, octane and petrol at lower prices than the current prices. However, petrol and octane prices are likely to fall more than diesel and kerosene.

This information is known from sources of Energy Department and Bangladesh Petroleum Corporation (BPC). The government has decided to reduce the profits of BPC to control high inflation.

It is known that since June 1, diesel and kerosene are being sold at the rate of 106 taka 75 paisa per liter. Octane is selling at Tk 131 per liter and petrol at Tk 127 per liter.

According to BPC sources, due to the decrease in the price of fuel oil in the international market, it will be reduced in the country as well. Besides, as per the current formula, the government has also decided to reduce the profit margin for BPC in the price of fuel oil. Due to which the price of fuel oil is expected to decrease quite a bit in the next month.

However, the price of octane and petrol will decrease more than that of diesel and kerosene. According to sources, the price of octane and petrol may decrease by Tk 8 to Tk 12 per litre. And the price of diesel and kerosene may decrease from 1 taka 50 paisa to 1 taka 75 paisa per liter.

According to sources, currently the price of diesel is three to three and a half dollars more per barrel compared to refined octane in the international market. Due to which the price of diesel will be reduced relatively less.
