Professor Abu Ahmed of Dhaka University’s Department of Economics has been appointed as the chairman of the state-owned investment organization Investment Corporation of Bangladesh (ICB). He will join this post next Monday (September 2).
This information was informed in the notification of the Financial Institutions Department of the Ministry of Finance on Thursday (August 29). He will replace the former chairman of ICB Suvarna Barua.
Earlier, Professor Subarna Barua resigned from the post of ICB chairman last Tuesday citing personal reasons. In a letter given to the Secretary of the Financial Institutions Department in the Ministry of Finance, he expressed his inability to perform his duties.
Professor Subarna Barua was also a teacher in the International Trade Department of Dhaka University.
