(NBR) Chairman Abdur Rahman Khan has been appointed as the director of Bangladesh Bank by the government. He has been made director of Bangladesh Bank for 3 years.
A notification in this regard was issued by the Financial Institutions Department of the Ministry of Finance on Thursday (August 29). It was signed by Deputy Secretary Afchana Bilkis.
According to the notification, according to Article 9(3)(d) of Bangladesh Bank Order 1972 (President Order 127 of 1972), the former senior secretary of the internal resources department and chairman of NBR Abu Hena Md. Instead of Rahmatul Munim, the current Secretary of Internal Resources Department and Chairman of NBR, Abdur Rahman Khan has been nominated as Director for a period of 3 years (subject to holding the current position) in the vacant position of the Board of Directors of Bangladesh Bank.
Earlier on August 14, the Secretary of the Financial Institutions Department, Abdur Rahman Khan, was made NBR chairman by the current interim government. With that, Abu Hena Md. from NBR chairmanship. Rahmatul Munim was removed.
It is said in the notification issued by the Ministry of Finance, Abu Hena Md. As per clause-7 of the agreement signed by the government with Rahmantul Munim, the remaining term of his contractual appointment as Senior Secretary, Internal Resources Department and Chairman of the National Board of Revenue (NBR) has been cancelled.
