Tangail Gears Up to Ease Eid Highway Traffic

Mrinal Kanti, Tangail Correspondent:

In preparation for the upcoming Eid-ul-Azha 2025, the Tangail District Road Safety Committee convened a crucial meeting aimed at ensuring smooth and safe travel for homebound passengers. The meeting, held on Thursday at the conference room of the Deputy Commissioner’s office, focused on strategies to eliminate traffic congestion on the Dhaka-Tangail highway—one of the busiest routes during the Eid season.

Chaired by Deputy Commissioner and District Magistrate Sharifa Haque, the meeting brought together key officials from the district administration, law enforcement, and transport authorities. A range of preventive measures and action plans were discussed to manage the expected surge in holiday traffic and maintain road safety.

During the session, Lieutenant Colonel Naser Uddin Khan, Commanding Officer of the 24 East Bengal Regiment, addressed the participants, emphasizing the need for coordinated efforts among all stakeholders to ensure a hassle-free journey for commuters.

District officials outlined several initiatives, including increased highway patrols, temporary traffic diversions, designated rest areas, and awareness campaigns for drivers and passengers. Special focus was also placed on the enforcement of traffic laws and rapid response systems for emergencies.

With millions expected to travel across the country for Eid, the Tangail district administration reaffirmed its commitment to facilitating a safer and smoother experience for all travelers on the Dhaka-Tangail highway.
