B Mirror Desk : Information Adviser Mahfuj Alam has expressed regret for previous comments that he believes may have created rifts among patriotic groups.
In a Facebook update on Thursday, he stated, ‘I genuinely apologize for any statements or expressions that may have been divisive.’ He committed to engaging with all parties involved in the July uprising with respect and sensitivity, ‘even if it is for just one day’ during his tenure.
Alam also urged the avoidance of divisive slogans and labels from earlier political agreements, which he feels render significant portions of the population vulnerable. He cautioned that Bangladesh’s sovereignty and democratic institutions are at risk, and emphasized that those who united during the uprising now face a significant challenge of maintaining unity and patience—a challenge that must be overcome.
