The country’s main stock market, the Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE), has been in decline for 6 consecutive working days. The latest decline was on Thursday (December 12). The stock market was mostly negative.
On Thursday, the main index of the Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE), the DSEX, fell by 19 points to 5105 points. It fell by 42 points the previous day. It also fell by 0.15 points on Tuesday, 15 points on Monday, 15 points on Sunday and 42 points on Thursday.
Shares and units worth Tk 351.59 crore were traded on the DSE today. The amount was Tk 304.24 crore the previous day. This represents an increase of Tk 47.35 crore or 16 percent in transactions.
Out of the 394 companies traded on the DSE on Thursday, the share and unit prices of 105 companies increased by 26.65 percent. The prices of 198 companies decreased by 50.25 percent and the prices of 58 companies remained unchanged by 23.09 percent.
On the other hand, shares and units worth Tk 4.28 crore were traded on the CSE on Thursday. Out of the 204 companies traded on the CSE on that day, the share and unit prices of 49 increased, 115 decreased and 40 remained unchanged. On that day, the overall index of the CSE, CASPI, fell by 60 points to 14,304 points.
Shares and units worth Tk 4.80 crore were traded on the CSE the previous day. On that day, the overall index of the CSE, CASPI, fell by 82 points.
