Shamim Uddin Ahmed joined as Deputy Managing Director of state owned Sonali Bank PLC. Prior to his joining, he also served as Deputy Managing Director of state owned Agrani Bank PLC. Earlier he was promoted as DMD from General Manager through a circular of the Financial Institutions Division on 9 April. Later he was posted to Sonali Bank PLC on 28 April.

Shamim Uddin Ahmed started his banking career as Senior Officer of Agrani Bank PLC in 1993. He held different positions in Agrani Bank efficiently and successfully such as Manager in different branches and corporate branches, head of different divisions at head office, Circle chief and General Manager.

He completed graduation and post graduation in Statistics from Jahangirnagar University. Later he obtained an MBA degree from University of Dhaka. He attended some professional training and workshops in home and abroad including Nepal, UAE (Dubai), Singapore and Thailand.
