In the last one month, 9 strong banks have lent 6 thousand 585 crores to 7 weak banks. However, it is less than the demand of weak banks. The governor of the central bank advised other banks to give more support to the banks which are in liquidity crisis. Ahsan H. Mansoor.
Bangladesh Bank Spokesperson and Executive Director Husne Ara Shikha gave this information on Thursday (November 14).
He said that strong banks are giving loans to help weak banks suffering from liquidity crisis. In this, the weak banks facing liquidity crisis are overcoming some financial crisis.
Stating that Islami Bank has received the most liquidity support, he said that Islami Bank has received liquidity of Tk 2,950 million from seven banks. Apart from this, Social Islami Bank received Tk 1,175 crore from 6 banks, First Security Islami Bank received Tk 1,000 crore from six banks and Global Islami Bank received Tk 295 crore. National Bank received Tk. 920 crore, Exim Bank Tk. 700 crore and Union Bank tk. 400 crore.
Sonali Bank has given maximum financial support to these weak banks, amounting to Tk 3 thousand crores. Apart from this, City Bank Tk 1,295 crore, Pubali Bank Tk 500 crore, Shahjalal Islami Bank Tk 400 crore, Dutch-Bangla Bank Tk 400 crore, BRAC Bank Tk 300 crore, Dhaka Bank Tk 250 crore, Mutual Trust Bank Tk 220 crore, Eastern Bank Tk 200 crore and Bengal Commercial Bank Tk 20 crore.
Meanwhile, the governor met with 17 commercial banks at Bangladesh Bank on November 11. Ahsan H. Mansoor. At this time, he urged the strong banks to provide more financial assistance to the banks weakened by financial irregularities.
Earlier, on November 6, the spokesperson of the central bank said that the weak banks facing financial crisis have received liquidity assistance of Tk 5,585 crore so far. Bangladesh Bank will seriously reform all banks according to time. However, among these, Islamic banks will be given more priority.
