Seminar on “Disaster Management” Held in Nabinagar

Brahmanbaria Correspondent: In Nabinagar of Brahmanbaria, a seminar on “Disaster Management” was held on the occasion of International Volunteer Day. The event was organized by the Bangladesh Red Crescent Society Youth Unit, Nabinagar Branch, with support from the Fire Service and Civil Defense. The seminar took place yesterday, Friday, at the auditorium of Nabinagar Government Pilot High School.

The program was conducted by Shubhendu Chakraborty Shubho, Director of the Upazila Youth Red Crescent Team, and presided over by Kazi Md. Wazedullah Jasim, Acting Head Teacher of Nabinagar Government High School. The chief discussant at the event was Mohammad Hossain Shanti, President of the Nabinagar Press Club. Special guests included Professor Shukla Rani Dev, Assistant Professor of Nabinagar Women’s College, officers from the Fire Service Station, as well as teachers, journalists, members of Fire Service & Civil Defense, and Youth Red Crescent members.

In his keynote speech, the chief discussant highlighted the crucial role of young volunteers in disaster management, emphasizing awareness building and the importance of rapid emergency response. He encouraged the youth to become more involved in disaster preparedness, fire safety, and basic rescue activities.

Speakers said, “International Volunteer Day is not merely a celebration; it is a moment to strengthen our sense of responsibility, selflessness, and commitment to humanitarian service.” They thanked everyone for standing beside the volunteer movement and expressed hope that all would continue working together for humanity in the future.

The speakers also called for enhancing the skills of volunteers and working collectively to provide humanitarian services. At the end of the program, honorary crests were presented to the guests.
