Patuakhali Correspondent: The Patuakhali District Council has awarded scholarships totaling approximately BDT 500,000 to 113 meritorious students of the district in recognition of their outstanding performance in the SSC and HSC examinations.
The scholarship award ceremony was held on Wednesday (October 15) at the District Commissioner’s conference room. The event’s chief guest was Dr. Mohammad Shahid Hossain Chowdhury, the Deputy Commissioner of Patuakhali.
The program was presided over by Md. Kamrul Hasan Sohel, Acting Chief Executive Officer of the District Council. Mohammad Tarek Hawlader, Additional Deputy Commissioner (Education & ICT), was present as a special guest.
A total of 67 students from the SSC category and 46 students from the HSC category received scholarships.
Each SSC student was awarded BDT 4,000,
Each HSC student received BDT 5,000,
resulting in a total disbursement of around BDT 500,000 to 113 students.
Speaking at the event, DC Dr. Shahid Hossain Chowdhury stated that the initiative by the District Council will further inspire the younger generation to pursue education. He emphasized that success is not just about achieving good academic results but also about becoming honest, compassionate, and responsible citizens. He urged students to focus on developing subject-based skills alongside their studies.
In his speech, Md. Kamrul Hasan Sohel, the acting CEO of the District Council, said, “Education is the foundation of development. The District Council will always stand beside meritorious and underprivileged students.”
The ceremony was attended by officials of the District Council, heads of educational institutions, teachers, guardians, and students. At the end of the event, scholarship checks and certificates were handed over to the students by the invited guests.
