Say No to Meghna Group: Masud Sayedee’s Call for Action

B Mirror Desk: The Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami’s nominee for the Pirojpur-1 seat, Masud Sayedee, has voiced his opposition to the fabricated and conspiracy case brought against Mahmudur Rahman, the editor of Amar Desh, and other journalists.

Masud Sayedee, a former chairman of Zianagar Upazila and the son of Allama Delwar Hossain Sayedee, was present during the human chain held on Friday, April 25, in front of Pirojpur Town Club by the Amar Desh Pathak Mela.

During the human chain event, he stated, ‘If the unfounded conspiracy charges against Mahmudur Rahman are not dropped, the patriotic citizens will boycott all Meghna Group products. Meghna Group has bolstered the actions of the murderer Hasina and has illicitly transferred vast sums of money abroad. Although they operate within Bangladesh, they are plotting to undermine the nation under the guidance of India.’ He further remarked, ‘When the so-called mass awakening platform was established in Shahbagh, Dhaka, funded by Indian resources, it inflicted daily hardships on the populace and disrupted the country’s peace and order.

In response, Mahmudur Rahman wrote in my country, ‘The roar of fascism can be heard.’ Following this, the fascist Awami League initiated legal action against Mahmudur Rahman, forcing him into exile. Just as the bird of the Quran, Allama Sayedi, fiercely opposed Indian dominance, Mahmudur Rahman is also resisting Indian influence.’ At the human chain, District BNP Convener Principal Alamgir Hossain emphasized, ‘We must create a movement of resistance against all conspiracies and support persecuted journalists like Mahmudur Rahman.’ Present at the event were District Jamaat Secretary Zahirul Haque, District BNP Member Secretary Lavlu Gazi, Municipal Jamaat Ameer Maulana Ishaq Ali, District Chhatra Dal General Secretary Salauddin Kumar, among others.
