Rice prices falling, becoming bearable: Food advisor

B Mirror Desk : In reference to the decline in rice prices, Food Advisor Ali Imam Majumdar stated, “This year, an unexpected Boro crop has been produced. I think the price of rice is decreasing, becoming more tolerable. However, it is not right for the price of rice to fall completely. Because farmers must get a fair price. The farmers’ side must be taken into consideration. Therefore, if the price of rice decreases, the price of flour will also decrease.” He made this statement following an inspection of the silos and new food warehouses being built at the Narayanganj port on Saturday, May 3.

Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Bandar Police Station Tariqul Islam, Superintendent of Police Pratyush Kumar Majumder, Bandar Upazila Executive Officer Mostafizur Rahman, and Deputy Commissioner Md. Zahidul Islam Miah were also in attendance, along with representatives from other government agencies.

According to Ali Imam Majumdar, TCB will cancel fake cards and replace them with new smart cards, allowing genuine beneficiaries to receive government benefits. Additionally, TCB and food-friendly programs will be implemented more effectively. The country’s wheat demand is approximately 7 million metric tons per year, with only 1 million metric tons being produced.
