Trade advisor Dr. Salehuddin Ahmed said that the government is taking effective steps to develop the domestic industry. This increases the confidence of traders. Besides, our reserves are increasing and the country’s economy is also turning around.
He said these things in a special review meeting in the conference room of the Ministry of Commerce at the Secretariat on Thursday (October 31). Top business leaders of the country and relevant senior officials of the Ministry of Commerce participated in the meeting.
Trade advisor said, it is not possible to do everything within three months. But we are working. Be it today or tomorrow, the political government will come to power. We will work for the country as long as we have time.
He said that the government is giving priority to the food, energy, fertilizer and pesticide sectors. There will be government support for the private sector in these sectors. We are trying to develop the private sector.
Business leaders appreciated the steps taken by the government to develop the domestic industry. They called for the overall development of the private sector, opening of one-stop service centers, reduction of duty tax on imports of medicines, leather, garments and other industries and ensuring uninterrupted supply of gas and electricity.
Commerce Ministry Secretary Salim Uddin, Square Group Managing Director Tapan Chowdhury, Incepta Pharmaceutical Chairman Abdul Mokhtadir, Apex Group Managing Director Syed Nasim Manjur and Pran Group Director Uzma Chowdhury spoke on the occasion.
