B Mirror Desk : Remittances from foreigners totaled 227.1 million US dollars in the first 26 days of April. This translates to 27,706 crore taka in local currency (at a rate of 122 taka per dollar). As a result, remittances of 87.3 million dollars each day on average entered the nation.
This information was made public today, Sunday, April 27, by Bangladesh Bank’s updated report.
It stated that remittances of 227.1 million forty thousand US dollars entered the nation over the first 26 days of April. State-owned banks accounted for 853.8 million dollars of this total.
Furthermore, 42.7 million dollars came from foreign sector banks, 129.35 million from private banks, and 119.4 million from specialized banks.
Bangladesh Bank also said that from April 20 to 26, the country’s remittances came to 552.3 million dollars. From April 13 to 19, expatriates sent 666.3 million dollars in remittances to the country. From April 6 to 12, $933.18 million came to the country. And in the first 5 days of April, $119.19 million came to the country.
Meanwhile, $3.28 billion in remittances came to the country in March. Which is the highest in any month in the country’s history. In local currency (122 taka per dollar), the amount is 40,138 crore taka.
Previously, the highest remittance in the country’s history (about $2.64 billion) came in last December. And the second highest expatriate income came in last February (about $2.53 billion).
Last January, remittances came to the country at $2.18 billion.
And in the recently concluded 2024, remittances came to the country at $2,688.91 billion. Of this, 211 crore 31 lakh 50 thousand were received in January last year, 216 crore 45 lakh 60 thousand in February, 199 crore 70 lakh 70 thousand in March, 204 crore 42 lakh 30 thousand in April, 225 crore 49 lakh 30 thousand in May, 253 crore 86 lakh in June, 191 crore 37 lakh 70 thousand in July, 222 crore 41 lakh 50 thousand in August, 240 crore 47 lakh 90 thousand in September, 239 crore 50 lakh 8 thousand in October, 219 crore 95 lakh 10 thousand in November and 263 crore 87 lakh 80 thousand in December.
