Recruitment at Kushtia Civil Surgeon’s Office Suspended

Kushtia District Correspondent: The recruitment process for vacant posts of grades 11-20 under the Kushtia Civil Surgeon has been temporarily suspended. The decision was taken at a meeting of the relevant recruitment committee on Saturday (October 25).

Earlier, on Friday (October 24), 16,789 job seekers participated in the recruitment test for 115 vacant posts of seven posts of the Kushtia Civil Surgeon’s Office. But on the morning of the exam day, the scene of 25-30 students mysteriously entering a house in Kushtia city and leaving just before the exam started created controversy.

As a result, a group of aggrieved youths locked the main gate of the Kushtia Civil Surgeon’s Office on Saturday afternoon, alleging question paper leakage, bribery and corruption in the recruitment exam. The aggrieved youths raised various slogans against discrimination while locking the gate. They said that the controversial recruitment exam held on Friday should be canceled and the exam should be re-conducted immediately.

In this situation, Kushtia Civil Surgeon Dr. Sheikh Mohammad Kamal Hossain wrote a letter to the Director General of the Health Department regarding the viral video of 25-30 examinees coming out of a house on the day of the written recruitment exam.

The letter states, ‘On October 24, a written examination was conducted to recruit manpower for 115 vacant posts of grades 11-20 in the Kushtia Civil Office and various health institutions under its control. The written examination was conducted in 14 centers of Kushtia city in a very fair environment, following the prescribed process in light of the existing recruitment rules, maintaining overall security properly. During the examination, a video clip circulating on social media shows several people coming out of a house in Kushtia city. The video mentions that the house is the ancestral home of Dr. Hossain Imam, Resident Medical Officer of Kushtia Sadar Hospital. The video clip was widely circulated on social media, creating a negative impression in the public mind about the recruitment process.’
