Bangladesh Bank has made it mandatory to include QR codes on bank statements, solvency certificates and investment-related documents used for visa applications.
In a circular issued on Tuesday (May 12), the central bank said the move aims to make verification faster and reduce delays faced by embassies and visa centers due to manual document checks.
The QR code will allow authorities to instantly verify key details such as account holder information, account number, and statement balances. Banks have been instructed to implement the system within 90 days and maintain verifiable records for at least six months.
The directive was issued under the Bank Company Act, 1991.
