In line with the theme “Cashless Transactions, A Smarter Bangladesh” and in support of Bangladesh Bank’s “One Nation, One QR Payment (Bangla QR)” initiative to promote digital payments nationwide, Pubali Bank PLC. organized an awareness program titled “Cashless Rajshahi” under the initiative of its Rajshahi Region. As part of the program, 14 electronic banking booths across the Rajshahi Region were virtually inaugurated through video conferencing.
The prograrm was graced by Md. Mizanur Rahman Minu, MP, Hon’ble Minister for Land, as the Chief Guest. Azizur Rahman, Director of Pubali Bank PLC., attended as the Guest of Honour. Md. Amzad Hossain Khan, Executive Director of Bangladesh Bank, Rajshahi Office and Mohammad Ali, Managing Director & CEO of Pubali Bank PLC. were present as Special Guests.
Among others present were Md. Shahnewaz Khan, Deputy Managing Director of Pubali Bank PLC.; Md. Bayazid Sarker and Md. Nazim Uddin, Directors of Bangladesh Bank, Rajshahi Office; Md. Rabiul Alam, Deputy General Manager & Head of Alternative Delivery Channel Division; Md. Sazidur Rahman, Deputy General Manager & Regional Head, Rajshahi Region; senior executives from the Bank’s Head Office, branch managers, officers and employees, local dignitaries and representatives of the business community.
Addressing the program, Md. Mizanur Rahman Minu, MP, Hon’ble Minister for Land, said that financial literacy and the expansion of technology-driven banking services are essential to building a Smart Bangladesh. He described initiatives such as those undertaken jointly by Bangladesh Bank and Pubali Bank PLC. as highly commendable for bringing secure and modern banking services to people across the country, particularly in remote areas. He also emphasized the importance of continuing such awareness programs to encourage wider adoption of digital transactions.
Speaking on the occasion, Mohammad Ali, Managing Director & CEO of Pubali Bank PLC., said that, in line with the directives of Bangladesh Bank and the vision of Smart Bangladesh, Pubali Bank has been working relentlessly to expand modern, secure and technology-driven banking services across the country. He noted that initiatives like “Cashless Rajshahi” would play a vital role in enhancing financial awareness and bringing digital banking services closer to people.
