Pubali Bank PLC recently organised a memorial meeting and doa mahfil in memory of its former Chairman (2001–2002) and former Director (1984–2025), distinguished educationist and social worker Monir Uddin Ahmed.

Monir Uddin Ahmed passed away on Sunday, July 12, 2026, at around 2:00pm Bangladesh time while undergoing treatment at a hospital in London.
The programme, organised by the Pubali Bank Employees’ Union (Bangladesh), recalled his long and distinguished career and his significant contributions to the bank’s growth and development.
Among those present were his son and Pubali Bank PLC Director Kabir Ahmed, as well as his children Sabir Ahmed and Nadir Ahmed. Pubali Bank PLC Managing Director Mohammad Ali, senior executives and employees, and leaders and members of the central executive committee of the Pubali Bank Employees’ Union (Bangladesh) also attended the event.
Speakers recalled Monir Uddin Ahmed’s long professional career, integrity, wisdom, humanitarian values and sincere contributions to Pubali Bank. They said he played an important role in the bank’s institutional progress and development during his long tenure on the board of directors.
His contributions to education and social welfare were also remembered with deep respect.
The speakers said his wisdom, sense of responsibility, integrity and commitment to the institution would remain memorable to the Pubali Bank family. With his death, the Pubali family has lost an experienced guardian, well-wisher and long-time guide.
A special doa and munajat was offered seeking the forgiveness and eternal peace of the departed soul. Prayers were also offered for strength and patience for the bereaved family to cope with the irreparable loss
