As part of its commitment to making Shariah-based banking more accessible and convenient, Premier Bank PLC has recently inaugurated 20 Islamic Banking Windows (IBWs) across its branches located in key regions of the country.
The inauguration ceremony was held at the Bank’s Head Office, Shanta Pinnacle. The event was graced by Dr. Arifur Rahman, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Premier Bank PLC, as the Chief Guest. Also present were Independent Director M Nurul Alam, FCS; Managing Director Md. Monzur Mofiz; Chairman of the Shariah Supervisory Committee, Principal Dr. Mohammad Shahjahan Madani; Deputy Managing Directors; and other senior executives of the Bank.
Speaking on the occasion, Chairman Dr. Arifur Rahman said, “Premier Bank remains committed to delivering high-quality Shariah-based banking services to customers. The launch of these Islamic Banking Windows reflects our dedication to fulfilling that commitment.”
Independent Director M Nurul Alam, FCS, described the expansion of Islamic banking services as a timely and transformative initiative. He stated, “As Bangladesh is a Muslim-majority country, the demand for Islamic banking services continues to grow steadily. This expansion is a significant step toward meeting that increasing demand.”
Managing Director Md. Monzur Mofiz remarked, “As part of our commitment to strengthening Islamic banking services, Premier Bank continues to expand its reach while prioritizing customer convenience and service excellence. The launch of these 20 Islamic Banking Windows will enable customers to access a comprehensive range of Shariah-compliant deposit, investment and other Islamic banking services with greater ease and convenience.”
In his welcome address, Principal Dr. Mohammad Shahjahan Madani, Chairman of the Shariah Supervisory Committee, highlighted the importance of strict Shariah compliance in Islamic banking operations. He emphasized that Islamic banking services should continue to expand while maintaining customers’ trust and confidence through adherence to Shariah principles and governance standards.
