Pragati Life, Prime Islami Life post higher insurance funds

Listed insurers Pragati Life Insurance and Prime Islami Life Insurance have reported higher life insurance funds for the first half of 2026, according to separate financial disclosures submitted to the Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE).

The companies published their January–June financial results on Wednesday after their respective boards approved the statements on July 14.

Pragati Life posted a strong rise in net premium income during the six-month period. Net premium income increased to Tk 3.75 billion from Tk 3.03 billion a year earlier, marking a 23.8% year-on-year increase.

The insurer’s total expenses also rose to Tk 3.27 billion, compared with Tk 2.96 billion in the same period of 2025, an increase of 10.5%.

As of June 30, 2026, Pragati Life’s life insurance fund stood at Tk 8.64 billion, up from Tk 6.98 billion a year earlier, reflecting a 23.9% increase.

Meanwhile, Prime Islami Life Insurance reported a significant reduction in its deficit. During the April–June quarter, the company’s excess of claims and other expenses over total income narrowed to Tk 21.6 million, compared with Tk 206.2 million in the corresponding quarter of the previous year, representing an 89.5% decline.

For the January–June period, the company’s overall deficit fell to Tk 598.3 million from Tk 950.8 million a year earlier, a reduction of approximately 37%.

Prime Islami Life’s life insurance fund reached Tk 6.80 billion as of June 30, 2026, up from Tk 6.54 billion a year earlier, an increase of about Tk 257.6 million.
