BM Desk : In a statement released by the Press Wing following Tarique Rahman’s meeting with Professor Dr. Muhammad Yunus in London on Friday, June 13, the Interim Government’s Chief Advisor stated that if all preparations are finished, the elections could take place even a week before Ramadan in 2026.
The message stated that the Chief Advisor had stated that the elections would take place by the first half of April of the following year, at which point it would be necessary to make sufficient progress on justice and reforms. The meeting started at 2 p.m. Bangladesh time on Friday at the Dorchester Hotel in the UK capital, London.
Press Secretary Shafiqul Alam, Dr. Khalilur Rahman, the National Security Advisor for the Interim Government, and others greeted Tarique Rahman at the hotel. Shairul Kabir, one of the cell members, cited BNP media cell convener Moudud Hossain Alamgir Pavel, who stated that Humayun Kabir, the BNP acting chairman’s international affairs advisor, and Amir Khasru Mahmud Chowdhury, a member of the party standing committee and chairperson of the Foreign Affairs Advisory Committee, accompanied Tarique Rahman when he left home.
