Jahirul Patuakhali Correspondent : A vibrant event has been arranged in Patuakhali by the Health Department to honor the martyrs of the significant July-August mass uprising and to pay respects to those who took part in the July 2024 uprising.
A discussion meeting took place at the Patuakhali District Civil Surgeon’s office at 10 am on Monday (July 28). Following this, a blood donation drive was held at the Patuakhali Medical College Hospital.
Present at the event were Patuakhali Deputy Commissioner Abu Hasnat Mohammad Arefin, Superintendent of Police Md. Anwar Zahid, Civil Surgeon Dr. Mohammad Khaledur Rahman Mia, Superintendent of Patuakhali Medical College Hospital Dr. Dilruba Yasmin Liza, Executive Engineer of the Department of Health Engineering Altaf Hossain, and key figures from the July 2024 uprising including Imtiaz Miraj, Tofazzal Hossain, Salman, and Refayet Kabir Khan, along with officials, doctors, health workers, and volunteers from various district departments.
During the discussion, speakers remarked, “The July-August mass uprising was more than just a movement; it represented the sacrifice and determination of a generation. The blood of the martyrs must not be forgotten. This legacy will motivate the younger generation.”
Following the ceremony, the second segment of the program commenced with the blood donation initiative. Civil Surgeon Dr. Khaledur Rahman Mia officially launched the blood donation program. He stated, “Voluntary blood donation is a commendable act. Through this initiative, we honor our martyrs who gave their lives.”
