Instructions dated June 17, 2021 regarding circuit breakers will be reinstated.

In the stock market, the minimum price level or floor price of the shares of all companies except two companies has been withdrawn. The four companies that have been exempted from floor price are Khulna Power, BSRM Limited, Meghna Petroleum and Shahjibazar Power. However, the floor price will continue on Bangladesh Export Import Company Limited (Beximco) and Islami Bank Bangladesh Plc. As a result, the normal rules will apply in the case of buying and selling shares of all companies except the shares of two companies. That is, there will be a 10 percent upper and lower circuit in any share buying and selling case.

This decision was taken at the 916th emergency commission meeting of Bangladesh Securities and Exchange Commission (BSEC), the capital market regulatory body, on Wednesday (August 28). It was presided over by the new chairman of BSEC, Khandkar Rashed Maksud.

According to BSEC data, there are currently floor prices on 6 companies in the stock market. Four of these companies will soon have their floor prices raised. However, the floor price will continue on Bangladesh Export Import Company Limited (Beximco) and Islami Bank Bangladesh Plc.

Meanwhile, in the case of companies whose floor price has gone up, BSEC has also changed the decision regarding the circuit breaker or price limit. According to the agency, the decision issued on June 17, 2021 regarding circuit breakers will be reinstated. In this, the share price can increase and decrease at a fixed rate according to the previous day’s closing price.
