Panchagarh Correspondent : Commissioner (Investigation) Mian Muhammad Ali Akbar Azizi of the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) has issued a strong warning against corruption, stating that no employee should dare to engage in corruption and that those who do so will face harsh consequences.
In the Panchagarh Government Auditorium on Sunday afternoon (November 9), he spoke at a public hearing that lasted all day and was organized by the Anti-Corruption Commission’s Thakurgaon District Office in cooperation with the Panchagarh district administration and the District Corruption Prevention Committee. The hearing was presided over by Panchagarh Deputy Commissioner Md. Sabet Ali.

“When we give extra money to get a service, we commit two wrongs — we deprive the rightful person and corrupt the one responsible for providing the service.”
He added that Bangladesh’s young generation had sacrificed their lives to fight corruption and injustice, and everyone should honor that legacy by standing against unethical practices.
Highlighting the widespread nature of corruption, the ACC Commissioner remarked that corruption had once spread “from the head of government to the head of the judiciary, from the khatib of Baitul Mukarram Mosque to the priest of Dhakeshwari Temple.” He said the number of corruption complaints in Panchagarh was so high that ACC officials were “unable to return home before evening.”
Azizi reminded public servants that their salaries come from taxpayers’ money, emphasizing that government employees must be accountable to the people. He called on citizens and officials alike to work together to eliminate corruption.
During the public hearing, 181 complaints were filed against 42 government and private institutions in Panchagarh district. Of these, 118 cases were heard, and several significant complaints were resolved.
The ACC also temporarily suspended two headmasters Abul Hayat Babul, Headmaster of Dangapara Government Primary School, and Jharen Roy, Headmaster of Burirban Government Primary School on charges of taking bribes in the recruitment of night guards and office assistants.
