Nippon Paint Bangladesh launched the AYDA Awards 2023 in August 2023, continuing a tradition that began internationally in 2008. The aim of the awards is to inspire students in architecture and interior design to be more innovative and professional.
“At Nippon Paint, we acknowledge the abundance of talent in this creative industry and we are here to provide an avenue for creative talent to design responsibly,” the company said in a statement. “We are committed to cultivate and strengthen the creative minds of the interior design and architectural students in our industry.”
The theme for AYDA Awards 2023 was “CONVERGE: CHAMPIONING PURPOSEFUL DESIGNS.” Students from architecture and interior design departments across Bangladesh were invited to compete.
National winners received prize money, with gold winners taking home 50,000 taka and silver winners receiving 25,000 taka. These winners will also represent Bangladesh at the AYDA Summit in Chennai, India.
The top international gold winners from both categories will be awarded a life-changing opportunity: a fully funded, three-week AYDA/Harvard Design Discovery Summer Program at Harvard University in the USA. This program is valued at USD 10,000 and covers flights, meals, and accommodation.
The prestigious award ceremony will feature a distinguished panel of judges, including Prof. Dr. Qazi Azizul Mowla, BUET & Leading University Vice-Chancellor, Architect A.F.M. Mohiuddin Akhand, Shanto-Mariam University, Nurur Rahman Khan, Tanya Karim N.R. Khan And Associates, and Bayejid Mahbub Khondker, Nakshabid Architects.
Representing Nippon Paint Bangladesh Private Limited will be Mr. Rajesh Sircar, Deputy General Manager and Mr. Robin Miah, Marketing Manager alongside other high officials. The event will also be attended by architects from the Public Works Department (PWD) and other architectural firms, along with department heads from architecture and interior design schools across Bangladesh.
