New notes to be available at 11 banks

BM Desk : The new series of 1,000, 50, and 20 taka bank notes, signed by Bangladesh Bank Governor Dr. Ahsan H. Mansur, will be available for purchase starting today. Eleven banks will disburse this extra funding, according to sources at Bangladesh Bank. New notes are available for customers to pick up at particular branches of these institutions.
Sonali Bank, Janata Bank, Agrani Bank, Pubali Bank, Uttara Bank, Rupali Bank, Dutch-Bangla Bank, Islami Bank, Al-Arafah Islami Bank, BRAC Bank, and Eastern Bank are the banks where the new currency can be exchanged.

According to the regulations, Bangladesh Bank introduces fresh notes into circulation prior to each Eid celebration, enabling people to exchange presents using clear, eye-catching, and sparkling currency.

Bangladesh Bank Executive Director and Spokesperson Arif Hossain said yesterday that commercial banks are the direct customers of the central bank. Therefore, a limited amount of new notes have been supplied to some banks. These notes will start reaching customers from Monday or the day after.

In the first phase, new notes of 20, 50 and 1000 taka are being released. Bangladesh Bank officials said that more new notes will be printed in stages and the supply will be increased.
