B Mirror Desk : In light of the approaching holy Eid-ul-Azha, the government has made a new decision regarding the importation of cow, buffalo, and camel meat. The importation of these animals’ flesh has previously been prohibited by the Ministry of Commerce. It has been learned that a meeting with the relevant ministries and stakeholders led to the decision. In this regard, a notification will be sent out shortly.
According to some who are concerned, the country’s need for sacrifice animals rises during Eid-ul-Azha. The government does not intend to import cattle this time, though, because there are more animals than are needed.
Additionally, it has been learned that extra precautions are being made to make sure that nobody may cause market instability during the sacrifice. In order to ensure that farmers receive a fair price, the government will simultaneously keep an eye on the situation.
The Ministry of Livestock reports that there were 1.25 crore animals in the nation that might be sacrificed last year, of which over one crore was utilized in the sacrifice.
