Mobile operators adopt Taka billing for roaming services

B Mirror Desk : Mobile providers are now permitted by Bangladesh Bank to charge Taka for roaming services when using Bangladeshi SIM cards overseas. The purpose of this decision is to streamline mobile roaming services. Customers may be charged up to 6,000 Taka each trip and 30,000 Taka in a single calendar year.

Bangladesh Bank provided this information in a notification Tuesday, April 24.
When offering roaming services, mobile operators have been asked to adhere to specific requirements. This includes the fact that the limit cannot be surpassed, even if multiple mobile numbers or operators are utilized. Both the ticket and the visa must be valid for the trip.

According to the notification, a week prior to the travel, roaming services must be made available. Foreign network operators will be able to receive payments from mobile providers. But in this instance, banks will need to adhere to specific rules.
In the past, Bangladeshi tourists could use international cards to get roaming services in foreign currencies. Bangladesh’s consent Bank was required for paying bills in Taka.
