The National Board of Revenue (NBR) has extended the deadline for individual taxpayers to file their income tax returns for the 2025-26 tax year by one month. The new deadline is now 31 December 2025.
In a statement issued on Sunday, the NBR urged taxpayers to submit their returns using the e-Return system. According to the release, over 1.8 million individual taxpayers have already filed their returns online this year.
For taxpayers facing registration issues in the e-Return system, NBR has allowed them to submit an application with valid justification to the concerned Deputy Commissioner of Taxes by 15 December 2025.
This year, online filing is mandatory for all individual taxpayers except for: senior citizens aged 65 or above, physically disabled or specially-abled taxpayers, Bangladeshis living abroad, legal representatives filing on behalf of deceased taxpayers, and foreign nationals working in Bangladesh.
The NBR emphasized that the extension aims to facilitate smooth compliance and ensure taxpayers have sufficient time to complete their filings.
